A criminal deserves punishment no matter what (ig)noble cause he espouses. I think there is a serious case of cognitive dissonance among the liberal left when it comes to acknowledging the crimes committed by their ideological allies. So long as you sport that dirt-red flag somewhere, you get indulge in the crime of your choice and you get to have a plethora of willing supporters waiting on the lines to drown any and all voices of reason. In one word, the entire situation is SICK!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13437119.post-13484452286860881762007-02-01T11:43:00.000+05:302007-02-01T11:43:00.000+05:30C.P.Gajurel was convicted of a very serious offens...C.P.Gajurel was convicted of a very serious offense of traveling with a forged passport, and an Indian Passport at that. It was only fortuitous that he was caught by the Immigration control. Having been convicted of a criminal offense in a foreign country it takes some gall for him to ask for special privileges prison. What difference is there between Gajurel and Abu Salem, who has been convicted of a similar offense. <br />Does the Hindu plan to run an Editorial page interview of Abu Salem and Monica Bedi? The Maoists of Nepal had openly indulged in acts of terrorism covertly supported by Nepal's gigantic neighbor to the north, which has steadily increased it's influence over the years. The fact that the leadership of the Maoists have made their intentions clear to put 'Nepal's relationship with India on a "new and equal" footing' is a pointer to the tumultuous times ahead. With significant differences on a range of issues - ranging from borders and trade to the equitable use of water resources- India can ill-afford to have yet another neighbor controlled by the purse-strings of a regional strategic threat. It just seems like a replay of the Bangladesh scenario once again!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
